The Office of Faith Formation is excited to offer a new program for high schoolers this coming school year grades 9-12. With Sophia Institute's Spirit of Truth, our younger parishoners will be able to take hold of their faith dynamically by truly making it their own. This is not a mere lecture series but a series meant to help them to think critically about religion and articulate the Catholic faith truthfully, faithfully, but still in their own words! This can be accomplished if the deep wonder of our faith remains at the center of our study and collective exploration.
Our Wonders of Faith series will run the entire school year in a semesterly fashion. Sessions will be each Monday of the school week in the Youth Center from 6:30-8:00. Books and materials will be provided by the parish regardless of grade level so we encourage high schoolers of all ages to register, especially if not attending Catholic school. This program also satisfies the requirement for the first year of Confirmation preparation.
There will be a parents' orientation in Servant Hall on September 7th @ 6pm. Feel free to bring the high schoolers too!
The First session of Wonders of Faith will be Monday, September 11th from 6:30-8:00pm in Servant Hall.
For this semester, all participants will be taking part in the same course which begins at the foundation with Sacred Scripture. We begin to understand a life in Christ first by knowing what it is that has been spoken by God to each of us and to all of us as one people. This is why the beginning of this exploration considers the topics of salvation history from the Old Testament through to the New Testament culminating with the work and salvation of Christ and what he accomplished for each of us.
